RIDG Welcomes the Whitmarsh Supply Chain Review

RIDG today welcomes the recommendations of the OWIC report, ‘The UK Offshore Wind Industry: Supply Chain Review’, produced by Martin Whitmarsh, particularly the need for auctions of over 2GW per year to boost confidence in the sector.

This timely report emphasises the huge opportunity for the UK supply chain, and the economy as a whole, from offshore wind. The message is clear: investment needs certainty, and this is something that is fully within Governments ability to give. We hope both UK and Scottish Governments hear this loud and clear and act with the urgency it requires.”

“RIDG is committed to bringing forward the next phase of new projects in UK waters to add further certainty to the supply chain. These projects must however become available to the market through the appropriate leasing processes without delay, and regularly every two years throughout the 2020’s in line with the CfD auctions.”
