Katy started her career in the marine environment with an MSc in Environmental Geoscience (first class) from the University of Bristol, and then completed a PhD in ocean chemistry at Imperial College London. After a brief period of postdoctoral research, she decided to put her interest in the environment and love of numbers, data and spreadsheets to practical use. She has been working as an Environmental Consultant for four years, working within geospatial and environmental engineering teams.
Katy is involved with a diverse range of projects, including producing maps and analysing spatial data for environmental impact assessments, offshore wind site selection projects, navigational risk assessments, vessel traffic surveys and cable studies amongst others. She set up and now maintains the WebGIS platform for the RIDG / GIG ScotWind team, allowing the team to view and interact with project data. Katy is employed by environmental consultants Xodus Group.
