Marc is an experienced grid specialist and since 2008 he has been directly involved in the connection of over 20GW of onshore and offshore energy projects. He leads the grid and power offtake workstreams and is focussed on optimising power offtake arrangements including system security and affordability, key challenges for all Scottish offshore projects.
In his previous role as a director of Xero Energy (part of ITP Energised) Marc advised a wide range of organisations within the UK energy sector – focused on renewables and energy storage – and is recognised as a subject matter expert for grid (transmission/distribution) and electrical engineering.
Marc has experience of several technology solutions applicable to offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, energy storage, wave & tidal, hydro, biomass, energy for waste, gas peaking, interconnectors, offshore transmission (OFTO), onshore transmission/distribution, behind the meter/private wire, micro grids and synchronous compensators.
His strong technical background is combined with commercial project development skills covering site feasibility assessment, engineering design, costing and charging, risk assessment, technical due diligence, market modelling, CfD and offshore leasing bid support, connection and compliance process, industry and regulatory lobbying and TSO/DNO engagement.
Marc is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and a Member of the International Council on Large Electrical Systems.
