Mark Trinder has a strong reputation for the delivery of population models and analytical assessments for the investigation of potential impacts on bird populations, particularly in relation to offshore renewable developments. Mark has provided advice, analysis and assessment on ornithological matters for over 20 UK offshore wind farms, and as an expert witness at six Public Examinations.
Mark undertakes ornithological impact assessments for offshore and terrestrial wind farms and tidal turbine developments. He has been centrally involved in various strategic and industry guidance work packages. These have included methods to estimate ornithological ‘headroom’ for use in revised cumulative assessment of wind farm impacts (for The Crown Estate), options for how seabird impacts on Natura designates sites can be compensated, and methods for combining seabird survey data collected using different methods (for Marine Scotland).
Mark has worked in consultancy for over ten years, following employment in the conservation sector for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
He is a Principal Ornithologist at specialist firm MacArthur Green where he leads on the delivery of offshore renewable projects and provides statistical and modelling support for the whole team.
